We’ll look at Aztec healers depicted in codex art, healers in Venezuela, Colombia Ecuador, Peru; African-Taino fusions in Cuba and Haiti, including the vévé patterns that mambos paint on the ground, or on pregnant women’s bellies; the very rich traditions of the machi among the Mapuche (Chile); modern curanderas in Mexico and el Norte, and the dramatic cures through touch and gaze by santa Teresita de Cabora.
